Projects

"A planned endeavour, usually with a specific goal and accomplished in several steps or stages."

Here I post completed and successful projects, things that took some time and effort. Things that make me proud or just slightly embarrassed. Some of these projects will be collaborations with other people but most of them will be solo projects.

Meshcore in Jönköping

I only found out about a couple of guys working with mesh networks because they hopped into the local maker space discord, which immediately caught my eye. It turned out they were forming a new nonprofit focused entirely on mesh radio, so I decided to tag along to the first official founding meeting for the JKPG mesh group, the exact same crew that [...]

Waveshare RP2040-Lora adventure

I have for quite some time now been thinking about measuring the water temperature in Lake Vättern. One step on the way was the temperature sensor in the much smaller lake Rocksjön that's located in Jönköping. That was back in 2013-12 years ago-and I have not done anything since then relating to LoRaWAN and temperature sensing. But this summer, I got [...]

As previously mentioned I did som exploration of ESP32 mesh functionality and RGB leds for a project involving the local maker space where i failed to force mesh node status. After I gave up on that idea I managed to create som fun stuffs with the LEDs instead. The code is available here First iteration was to just have the LED blink in a chosen [...]

Atari ST inspired keyboard

After three [1, 2, 3] Ursa inspired keyboards it was time to try to do something different. For a while now I've seen several keyboards inspired by the original C64 design and colours, but I wasn't a Commodore guy, I had an Atari STe when I was a kid. The first ideas and sketches started to form properly around the start of the year, but it would [...]

Alertsquarer v1.1

  • Post date 2023-12-01
  • Categories Projects
During this latest DreamHack event here in Jönköping (DHW23) I did some small updates to the Alertsquarer previously featured here. SG had bought some new hardware so instead of three 32x32 panels there was now two 64x32 panels. So while fixing support for this, and doing some minor adjustments I also added support for loading and displaying PNG-images. [...]

Buttons and LEDs

A friend at En Produktions Byrå was assigned to design a section of a Fagerhult exhibit for their permanent showroom located at the headquarters. The display consists of several clusters of buttons, resembling vintage radio buttons where only one can be active at a time in each group. A sophisticated display mounted on an adjacent wall is controlled [...]

Ursa inspired keyboard Mk III

After my second Ursa inspired keyboard was finished and I wasn't completely satisfied with the bulky look I decided to leave fabric and go back to a material I've worked with a bit more, wood. Also my newest PCBs had arrived a while back and I was eager to use them. I've also gotten some LOTR themed keycaps, more specifically the dwarvish set from [...]

AlertSquarer for DH

A friend who works at Dreamhack asked me if I had any 24 led Neopixel-rings in my large store of good-to-have stuff. Unfortunately I didn't, I could only find 12 led ones. In the crew area for the tech/network crew at Dreamhack in Jönköping they have had a display that show the number of active alerts per team. So anyone easily could see if any area [...]

Ursa inspired keyboard mk II

After the immeasurable success with the first case and the fact that I have computers both at home and work, and can't be bothered to transport a keyboard back and forth I decided to create one more. Since I had more Lou1:e PCBs and just got a new keycap set it was a natural choice to just continue working on modifying Andreas Chlupkas original design. [...]

An IRC-bot called Landlady

  • Post date 2022-12-19

How I built a self-organizing distributed network of IRC-bots for a good cause. The bot called Landlady is just the last one in a long line of bots written in Perl, Python and Javascript. Why did you create this IRC-bot? For a couple of years I was given the task to handle the #dreamhack IRC-channel on quakenet. Between events it was quite a quiet [...]
